August Business Meeting
It was HOT during the August business meeting, even still we had a great turnout. Rob Robinson demonstrated how to make a couple styles of flint strikers, French and English styles, and we celebrated one graduate last night, Dereck Morgan. Also the project of the month was a candle holder, and Brian Byrd won the project of the month. Congratulations to both Dereck and Brian. Thanks for the great Demo Rob, and thank you to all our members in who came in person or watched online.
Here is the LIVE stream of the video. A little something extra in there as well at 55:40, where the camera guy, me, puts his arm on a hot piece of metal. lol

June Business Meeting
Our June business meeting was pretty cool. Mark Webb introduced us all to his induction forge, which put out no heat to add the the already hot weather. It was quite the site, and I think after the demonstration everyone wanted to go out and buy one. Mark demonstrated making fire poker, and he even forge welded with the induction forge. It was pretty awesome. Also the project of the month was a knot, and Mark won that hands down with his knot on a heart plate with his and his wife's initials on it. We also awarded Bob Janetvilay with a certificate and a gift card for his win for May's project of the month. If you missed the demo here's the LIVE stream from our Facebook page.

May Business Meeting
If you missed our May Business Meeting go and watch the LIVE stream on our Facebook page. Brian Byrd did a great demo on how to make a courting candle. He also showed off the multi-function jig he'd made for making the candle holders. If you've got daughters you may want to make some, lol. We also had some gorgeous entries into the project of the month contest. It was trivets for this month. Congratulations to Bob Janetvilay for winning this month. We also celebrated our newest graduate from the Green Coal Program, Ashton Carneiro. Make sure to come back and take advantage of the open forge nights now that you've graduated, and if you're up to it help us teach on Tuesday or Thursday nights.

April Business Meeting
Our April business meeting marked the largest attendance we've had so far in 2021. It was great to see all of our members out for this meeting. James Malone demonstrated how to make a ball on the end of some square stock. It was a great demo. We also had some great entries for the project of the month, a door knocker. Congratulations to Ron Nichols for winning the competition. Also congratulations to our recent graduates Kevin Bolton, Dr. David Frantz, and Beth Frantz. Congratulations all. We hope to see you all around at open forge, our events, and helping teach. Glad to have had all of you in class. Great job! The demonstration was also LIVE streamed and you can see it on our Facebook page.
Leather Knife Sheath Workshop
Chet Maynard, with the help of Jack Foster, put together a leather sheath making workshop for us Monday night, 3/22. It was a great workshop, and everyone that attended got to go home with their own completed sheath. Chet spent a lot of time planning it out, and he also supplied us with documented steps and a tools list. Thank you Chet for volunteering to take this on and teaching our members a new skill to accompany their blacksmithing skills. We also LIVE streamed the event that you can watch on our Facebook page.

March Business Meeting
We had a great night on Monday the 8th. Gary Brown was our demonstrator, and he went over some of his experiences and tips on how to maneuver around craft shows and live demonstrations. Gary also demonstrated how to make a leaf and a nail, as well as showing us some of his tools. It was a good demo, and if you missed it we also LIVE streamed the demonstration part and it is available on our Facebook page. Here are some pictures from the meeting. We also celebrated two more graduates from our Green Coal program. Congratulations to Keith and Tony. Great job you two, and we hope you keep working at it and growing in the craft. We also presented to Keith S. his certificate for winning last month's project of the month, a door handle. Next month's project of the month will be the door knocker carried over from this month. We didn't have any entries this month, so you've got a second chance to get your door knocker in.

Tong Making Workshop
This February we held a tong making workshop for our members with Johnny Woolsey. Johnny prepared some materials for members who wanted to participate, with a donation of $10 for materials, and went through the process of demonstrating how to make tongs. All members are invited to come in to view the demo, and after the demo those that reserved an anvil worked to make their tongs with Johnny, Darrell, and Matt's help. It was a great turn out. We hope everyone enjoyed it. The event was also LIVE streamed on our Facebook page. We are hoping to put together a workshop each month for our members this year, so stay tuned for more opportunities coming up.

February Business Meeting
Our February business meeting was great. Rob Robinson, AACB President, demonstrated for us how to make a hinge barrel. We had a lot of good questions for Rob from our members that attended as well as those online watching the LIVE stream on our Facebook page. We also had a good amount of entries into the monthly project, which was a door handle. Congratulations to Keith for winning with his door handle. I missed getting a picture of Keith and his door handle while filming, but I'll get that uploaded later. Here are some pictures of the project of the month submissions. You can watch the LIVE stream of Rob's demo on our Facebook page here:

January Business Meeting - First Meeting of 2021
Our first business meeting of 2021 had a great turn out. Johnny Woolsey demonstrated how to make a calla lily as taught by Ellen Durkan in our workshops this past summer. Thank you for the great demonstration Johnny. We also celebrated the graduation of 3 of our students from the Green Coal program on Monday night. Congratulations Keith, Darrell, and Matt. We hope to see you back at the forge to help out teaching. Teaching is always a great way to learn and grow as a blacksmith.
The winner of the project of the month, a flux spoon with a leaf handle, was Rob Robinson. The project he chose for next month is a door handle. So we can't wait to see what everyone makes for next month. Also this was our second meeting that we live streamed, and we had a great turn out. Glad to see that we can share with those that were not able to make it in person to the meeting. We hope everyone has a great start to the new year. You can see the LIVE stream of Johnny's calla lily demo on our Facebook page.

December Business Meeting - First Ever Live Stream on 12/14/2020
This was the first time we ever lived streamed an event. We were testing to see how it would go and it seems to have made it possible for some members to be able to be a part of the business meeting even though they couldn't be there in person. We will try to do this more often. You can view the live stream of Ron Nichols' demo on how to make a basket twist handle on our Facebook page.

We had a pretty decent turn out, and a lot of Iron in the Hat drawing donations. Thank you to all our members that donated. We also had a pretty good turn out for the project of the month contest that was won by Gary Brown with his multi-piece and intricate bell. We also celebrated one of our student's graduation from the Green Coal Program. Cameron is also now coming in to help teach on Thursday night when he is available.

It was a great day of fellowship, networking, and learning to make tongs from our AACB President Rob Robinson. Glad we were able to help with this event Robert Poglitsch, TRABA President, and David McDade, TRABA Vice President, put together.
Ellen Durkan Workshops 7/31/2020 - 8/7/2020
RCBA had the pleasure of hosting 2 workshops with Ellen Durkan over the course of 8 days at Cannonsburgh Village. The first workshop was a Jack Wheeler style workshop that invited 1 member of each of the 13 AACB forges to attend a 3 day workshop, and they are to take what they learn in that workshop back to their forges and share the knowledge by doing a demonstration.
The second workshop was a 5 day workshop with Ellen Durkan to work on a more robust project that followed in the same suit as the 3 day project. The pictures below are courtesy of Ellen Durkan and shows all of the projects created by the students. Everyone demonstrated their own artistic sides on their projects. A couple students even took inspiration from Ellen's wearable iron works and made their projects into wearable pieces. Thank you again Ellen for the great workshops, all of our AACB members learned many new skills during these workshops. You can see Ellen's artistic works at: http://www.ellendurkan.com/
